In a lively Malaysian kampung during the 1970s, thirteen-year-old Cindy discovers a battered tin filled with mysterious yellowed letters hidden beneath an old bed. With her cousin Mei Lan and mischievous little brother Ah Meng, she follows a trail of clues through bridges, trees, old houses, and her grandmother’s kuih kapit kitchen, eventually uncovering a forgotten letter written by a shy girl who once lived in the village. What begins as an exciting mystery becomes a touching discovery about kindness, community, family, and the many quiet ways people show love.
