The Midnight Balloon Ride

In a quiet seaside jetty town in Penang, Eddy spends his days gazing at the horizon, feeling trapped by the smallness of his world. His routine existence is shattered one midnight when he discovers Esther, a spunky young navigator from a sky-farer’s guild, who has crash-landed her patch-work hot air balloon—the Starlight Express—in the local mangroves. Together with Eddy’s pragmatic, gear-obsessed best friend Eu Jun, the teenagers race against time and rising tides to repair the balloon’s complex burner before the morning light reveals their secret.

When a sudden tropical squall rips through the coast during launch, Eddy is accidentally swept up into the skies alongside Esther. Forced to brave roaring thunderclouds and dangerous updrafts using only their wits, local knowledge of wind patterns, and sheer bravery, the duo discovers a legendary “river in the sky”—a breathtaking air current above the clouds. Through this thrilling journey above the island, Eddy discovers that courage isn’t about leaving home behind, but about changing how you view the world around you.

The Penang Street Art Detective Club

When the street murals of George Town, Penang, begin changing overnight—nets shifting patterns, painted eyes opening and closing, colors transforming—seven local kids form the Penang Street Art Detective Club to investigate. Led by sharp-eyed Eddy and joined by Anna, Amelia, Lily, Bell, Hyuga, and Eu Jun, they discover that every mural in the city is trying to communicate something. Their search leads them to a forgotten alley and an unfinished masterpiece by a deceased local artist, Master Q, whose final mural depicts them—half-painted, waiting to be completed.

As the club races to solve the mystery, they uncover a deeper truth: the murals are alive with the stories, memories, and dreams of those who came before. To finish the mural is to finish Master Q’s life’s work—and to bring his forgotten stories back into the light. The Penang Street Art Detective Club is a heartwarming, culturally rich tale about friendship, heritage, and the magic that lives in the walls of a city when someone finally takes the time to look.
