Kenji and Aiko

Sakura Petals on the Moat

Kenji and Aiko are childhood friends who spend an ordinary spring afternoon beneath the cherry blossoms of Tokyo’s Chidorigafuchi Park. Their day changes when they discover a mysterious wooden box floating against the current of the moat, carrying a strange message about petals that fall backward and a bird that never flies. What begins as a playful treasure hunt soon leads them through hidden markers, forgotten messages, an old stone lantern, and a secret connected to two children from another generation.

As the mystery deepens, Kenji and Aiko discover that the strange clues were deliberately left behind to ensure that a forgotten story of friendship would not disappear. When the cherry blossoms begin performing an impossible trick, the two friends must decide what they themselves want to leave behind. Their adventure teaches them that friendship isn’t about promising that nothing will ever change—it is about recognizing the memories, moments, and people who helped shape who they become.
